Venom: Let There be Carnage

    All of my life I have been a huge superhero fan. When I was little I was always drawn to Spider-Man and all the characters that play along side him. My favorite character besides Spider-Man is hands down Venom. I have always loved the idea of his character, and was so excited when they released Venom starring Tom Hardy in 2018. Today I am going to talk about the sequel, Venom: Let There be Carnage.

    Who is Venom? 

    Venom is a character in the Marvel comics, that is commonly associated with Spider-Man. The character is defined as, "a sentient alien symbiote with an amorphous, liquid-like form, who survives by bonding with a host, usually human. This dual-life form receives enhanced powers and usually refers to itself as "Venom". This character first appeared on the big screen in Spider-Man 3 starring Toby Maguire. Sony owns rights to various Marvel characters, including Venom, so they decided to make their own solo film on the character. 

    Venom (2018) was at first bashed by critics before it released to the public, due to Sony's track record with superhero movies. On Rotten Tomatoes is scored a 29% critic review, but had a 81% audience score. When the public got to finally see the film it exceeded expectations allowing it to get a sequel. The movie goes over the life of Eddy Brock (Tom Hardy), that comes in contact with an alien symbiote and becomes the famous anti-hero Venom. Throughout the film he fights with the symbiote to eventually become one to defeat the other symbiote Riot, who is trying to bring back all of their "ancestors" from their planet, to save earth. This is a very brief summary, if you have time go watch the film it is very entertaining. 

    Due to the success of the first film Sony has now set a release for the sequel, Venom: Let There be Carnage. This film is set to have the other famous symbiote Carnage who is the offspring of Venom. "Carnage is much more powerful than his parent symbiote because of the symbiotes' biology, and is in many ways a darker version of him." Carnage is suppose to be played by the famous Woody Harrelson. The movies release date has been pushed back a few times, and is now set at September 17, 2021. There has been no official trailer released yet, but it is rumored to soon be coming. Carnage is suppose to be the antagonists in the film, so it makes for a classic heavyweight battle between himself and Venom. 

    I am very excited to see this film, not only because Venom is one of my favorite characters, but because of all the star power on the cast. Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson should work amazing together. I suggest to everyone if you have time, watch the first film, and go see Venom: Let There be Carnage in September, I promise you will be entertained the entire time!
