International Media-Assignment 8-MM 3503-Lucas Sharp

 International Media

Media exists all around the world, it is in every state, city, and country. We get so focused on the media outlets here in the states, that we forget some of the biggest are not in our country. News does not rest, there are stories to be covered through the entire day, and many countries over seas rely on big news networks to attain their information. Every country on the planet connects with each other, so something that happens in one country can effect many others, which is why International media is so important. Today, I am going to look at two of the biggest International Media outlets: The BBC and CBC.

BBC

The British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) is a public service broadcaster that is headquartered in Westminster, London. It is the world's oldest national broadcaster, and is the largest employed broadcaster in the world with over 22,000 employees. Their mission statement is, "We’re impartial and independent, and every day we create distinctive, world-class programmes and content which inform, educate and entertain millions of people in the UK and around the world." They have multiple television services for adults as well as children. They have ten UK-wide radio stations that include music and talk radio. They have two national station each in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. All of their digital services include: BBC News, Sport, Weather CBBC and CBeebies, iPlayer and BBC Sounds, BBC Red Button. Their website is very interactive that gives you access to various news stories from all across the globe, and you can access their social media.

CBC

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) serves as a public service broadcaster that is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is an English and French service that broadcasts through radio and television. Their mission statement is, "The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, as the national public broadcaster, should provide radio and television services incorporating a wide range of programming that informs, enlightens and entertains." They have all different sections on their website that allows you to see what time they are airing their next news cast. They offer their radio shows in over ten different languages, through various countries. All of their news networks are seven days a week and 24/7. They have news stories that cover all kinds of genres from Canada to all across the globe and access to their social media platforms.

International Media outlets are just as important as Fox News or CNN. They offer a perspective outside of an American media outlet, and can give new ideas/views on stories covered around the globe. As a Mass Communication's major it is something that I have begun to do, has helped with my research for various projects.
